YORK COUNTY – York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin says his office is now accepting homestead exemption applicants for the 2026 assessment year. “In an effort to reduce costs in our office this year, we are not mailing out homestead exemption applications and packets. Instead, postcards were mailed out on Feb. 2 informing previous applicants how they can pick up their pre-printed forms at the assessor’s office or at any of the mobile offices we will be offering this year,” Bulrgin said.
Mobile offices will be conducted at the following locations:
“If anyone has not filed an application in the past and would like more information about the homestead exemption program, I would encourage them to contact my office to find out if they might fall into one of several qualifying categories,” Bulgin said further. Residents who are 65 years of age and older as of Jan. 1, who own and reside in their home and meet certain income requirements could qualify for a portion or all of their property tax to be exempt. Others who could qualify are those with disabilities, veterans with 100% service-related disability and their spouses, or surviving spouses of veterans. Homestead exemption applications are due to the assessor’s office by Tuesday, June 30, at 5 p.m. To learn more about the Nebraska Homestead program, contact the York County Assessor’s office at 402-362-4926, option 6.
