YORK -- The York County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the York Police Department, recently hosted an Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) training in York. The ARIDE program is designed to enhance law enforcement officers’ ability to observe, identify and clearly articulate signs of impairment caused by drugs, alcohol or a combination of both. This training plays a critical role in improving roadway safety by helping officers detect impaired drivers and ultimately reduce the number of impaired driving incidents, serious injuries and fatal crashes.
A total of 37 law enforcement officers representing 14 different agencies successfully completed the course. The training brought together officers from across the region, reinforcing a shared commitment to proactive enforcement and public safety. “The York County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) instructors who led the training: Sgt. Taylor Samek of the York County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Joe Milos of the Bellevue Police Department, Sgt. Sara Genoways of the Lincoln Police Department and Sgt. Ryan Sullivan of the Grand Island Police Department. Their expertise and dedication were instrumental in delivering high-quality instruction and ensuring the success of the program. “The course received positive feedback from attendees and will play an important role in making roadways across Nebraska safer for all who travel them. “The York County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to ongoing training and collaboration with partner agencies to provide the highest level of service and protection to the community.” Comments are closed.
