YORK – It’s hard to believe, but 2026 is nearly here and what that means is election filings will start soon pertaining to the Primary Election in the new year. As the county board was reminded this past week by Chairman Randy Obermier, “it will soon be time to set salaries for elected officials, which will need to be done soon due to the election filings starting.”
All the elected county officials will be up for election this coming year, with the exception of commissioners from District 2 and District 5. That means these elections will be considered in the Primary Election in May, for District 1, 3 and 4 commissioners; county clerk; county treasurer; county assessor; county sheriff; county attorney; clerk of the district court; and county public defender. York County Clerk Mary Melby said filings pertaining to elections considered in the Primary Election will begin Jan. 5. Incumbents have until Feb. 15 to file and non-incumbents have until March 1. More information will be made available about local races as the filing season grows closer. Comments are closed.
