Sheriff asks farmers, rural residents to report suspicious activity as copper thefts escalate3/31/2025
YORK COUNTY – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka is asking for farmers and residents in the rural areas of the county to keep an eye out for suspicious people, suspicious vehicles and suspicious activity as there has been an escalation of thefts of copper wires from pivots.
YORK – After several years of public hearings and long conversations, the York County Commissioners are expected to take a vote on proposed zoning regulations when they meet in regular session next Tuesday, April 1.
GRESHAM -- On March 25, at 4:41 p.m., deputies with the York County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant on a residence in the 500 Block of Elm Street in Gresham, according to Sgt. Taylor Samek. During the search, deputies located numerous deadly weapons, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
York County Commissioner Chairman testifies before state lawmakers regarding inheritance tax3/26/2025
YORK COUNTY – Recently, York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier was asked to testify before state lawmakers regarding a resolution which would put the question, of whether or not inheritance tax should cease, on the ballot.

YORK – This past week, William Hoefener, current president of the York County Crime Stoppers, spoke with the York County Commissioners, to explain what the organization does and to encourage more community participation. He said he’s been trying to do more community outreach, in order to expand the public’s knowledge about what they do and the need for more donations as well as membership.
York County Emergency Manager Gary Petersen has announced Governor Jim Pillen has declared a state of emergency for more than 20 counties impacted by this week’s winter storm, including York County. The combination of rain, sleet, hail, heavy snow and high winds resulted in the closing of many roadways, including Interstate 80.
YORK COUNTY – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka says Wednesday’s blizzard “was just a mess. We were all out, all night and day, trying to respond to people who were stranded – the whole situation was just awful.”
