Statute 77-202.02 the York County Board of Equalization will hold a Public Hearing at 9:05 AM, Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in the Commissioner’s Room, 1st Floor of the Courthouse, 510 N Lincoln Ave, York, NE to review and hear testimony of support, opposition, criticism, suggestions or observations with regards to applications by qualified organizations seeking exemption from real and/or tangible personal property taxation for the 2025 through 2027 tax years. Applications that have been filed for said exemption may be reviewed at the York County Assessor’s office during regular business hours.

York County road crews are out in force, working to clear massive drifts throughout the county. With 1,100 miles of rural roads to clear, this is a process which will take some time. York Aging Services and public transportation is closed today, due to lack of electricity and road/street conditions. YORK – Conservation Nebraska will soon be holding an event, called “The Changing Landscape of Renewable Energy in Nebraska.” Organizers say this event “will provide an overview of key topics, including policy, landowner concerns, recent technological advances in renewable energy systems, and the potential impacts of wind and solar development in Nebraska.”
YORK – This week, the York County Commissioners reappointed Dan Aude to the York County Aging Services Board.
In doing so, they also opened up the opportunity to discuss the need for more people to volunteer to serve on the board. “We do have vacancies, vacancies we really want to fill,” said Lori Byers, York County Aging Services director. There are currently seats open which represent the Benedict, Waco and Gresham areas. “We invite anyone from those areas of the county to let us know if they’d like to represent their communities on our board.” Interested persons can contact Byers at 402-362-7626, extension 4. YORK – The Kilgore Library is a city-owned facility, but because many library patrons are from all corners of York County, the county also provides dollars toward funding its operation.
This week, Kilgore Director Deb Robertson met with the county board members to give them an update of upcoming events and programming. “Next week, we will have a focus group day, a day of sessions to hear what people need and want from the library, as this is the community’s library, the people’s library,” Robertson said. On Tuesday, March 25, the information gathering sessions will be held at 9 a.m., noon and 6 p.m., at the library. “We are hosting these sessions to explore the future needs of individuals and organizations in our service area,” Robertson said. “These sessions will offer a unique opportunity to share insights, collaborate with others and help shape the resources and services which support our community’s growth and well-being. The facilitator will be Nicole Sedlacek, the economic development manager for the Nebraska Public Power District.” Robertson also announced the library will not have its own makerspace offering. She explained how the library received a grant for this, which will be located in an underused space in the facility. The library will have three open house events to showcase this new offering – on Monday, March 24, from 2:30-4 p.m.; on Wednesday, March 26, from 5-7 p.m.; and on Thursday, March 27, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. YORK – A conversation was held this past week by the members of the York County Board regarding the much awaited, highly controversial solar field zoning regulations.
YORK – People who are applying for passports are being reminded to only use the one legitimate website in doing so – or access their local district court offices for assistance.
YORK COUNTY – The York County Zoning and Planning Commission will be meeting Monday, March 17, at 5:30 p.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room.
YORK – When the York County Commissioners meet in regular session Tuesday, March 18, they will be having a conversation regarding proposed solar zoning regulations.
