YORK – The FBI is warning the public about an emerging phishing scheme by criminals impersonating city and county officials to solicit fraudulent payments for city and county planning and zoning permits. The criminals leverage publicly available permit information to identify potential victims and increase the legitimacy of the scam.
The York County Public Defender's Office is seeking a full-time Legal Secretary. Applicants should have excellent organizational, administrative, IT and communication skills; legal office experience preferred. Work hours are from 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday through Friday. YORK – During this week’s regular meeting of the York County Commissioners, the board approved a change order for the fire suppression system project in the jail which they hope will be wrapped up soon.
YORK – When the York County Commissioners met in regular session Monday morning, the conversation regarding solar zoning regulations started once again.
YORK – In a continued effort to do more public outreach, the York County Sheriff’s Office was out with the people again . . . this time, in the classroom of McCool Preschool.
On Monday, YSO Captain Josh Gillespie, armed with suckers and fake sheriff’s badges, took the time to sit down with the young ones. Captain Gillespie read a story to the youngsters and also talked about how to stay safe. Captain Gillespie, incidentally, is also York County’s DARE instructor. The DARE program works with middle school students. YORK – The York County Commissioners have a very light agenda for their meeting on Tuesday, March 3.
The preliminary agenda shows an action item regarding a change order for the jail fire suppression system. And on the agenda will be a discussion about solar field regulations -- a topic which has been delayed for some time. The other items on the agenda, at this time, are typical: committee reports, claims and forums. The board meeting will start at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners' meeting room, which is located on the main floor of the courthouse next to the clerk's office. YORK – Today is the last day for non-incumbents to file their candidacies if they want to run for offices being considered during the Primary Election in May.

YORK – According to Perennial Public Power and the York County Sheriff’s Office, scammers are targeting customers in this area, threatening to disconnect electrical services at specific times unless payments are made via a retail store.
