Commissioners work through budget in effort to bring down levy, minimize tax asking increase8/26/2025
 YORK – The county commissioners had a lengthy, tedious budget workshop this past week as they work to cut spending from the proposed budget in order to lower the levy and minimize the increase in tax asking.
 YORK – This past week, Jerad Reimers, a staff member from the team working with Congressman Adrian Smith, met with the York County Commissioners.
 YORK – The York County Assessor has certified the valuations for York County, with a nearly $1 billion increase for the county overall (compared to last year) and increases in all political subdivisions.
 YORK – This week, Commissioners Daniel Grotz and Andy Bowman said they have been meeting with York County Highway Superintendent Harvey Keim to talk about changes and improvements for the roads department, to increase efficiency and improve road conditions.
 YORK – When it came time for the county commissioners to approve claims this week, one invoice stood out among the others – it said the county owed $375 for one dozen doughnuts.
Eight appeals in York County filed with TERC, disagreeing with board decisions regarding valuations8/21/2025
 YORK – This year, the York County Commissioners, sitting as the board of equalization, considered 170 protests filed by property owners who argued the assessor’s valuations were not correct/equalized.
 YORK – Amid budget formulation work, extensive conversations about the road department and just coming off nearly 200 valuation protest hearings, the York County Commissioners held a brief conversation this past week regarding solar zoning regulations.
 YORK – The York County Commissioners have accepted a bid of $303,125 for the installation of fire suppression/sprinkler system in the York County Jail.
 YORK – York County has joined three other counties, through an interlocal agreement, in applying for federal grant funds to be used for bridge projects.
YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners are going to have a busy Tuesday when they convene in regular session on Aug. 19.
