YORK – The York County Juvenile Diversion program recently was informed it is the recipient of two substantial federal grants which will help grow the program and offer mental health services for kids under 18.
YORK – This week, the York County Commissioners went on their quarterly tour/visit of the York County Jail, which is required by Nebraska Jail Standards.
YORK – The York County Planning Commission will begin meeting again in November, to further discuss solar zoning regulations and to start the process of updating the county’s comprehensive plan.

KEARNEY – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka has been named the new president of the Nebraska Sheriff’s Association.
HENDERSON – The York County Sheriff’s Department has released information saying one person died as a result of a two-vehicle collision near Henderson on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Sgt. Taylor Samek says at approximately 2:12 p.m., deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Department, responded along with troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol, to a report of a motor vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Road F and Road 6, in the rural Henderson area. “Unfortunately, one of the drivers involved in the collision, identified as Leroy Friesen, 88, of Henderson, was pronounced dead at the scene,” Sgt. Samek said. “This collision is still under investigation and a reconstruction of the accident is being completed by the state patrol. Sgt. YORK -- The York Sheriff's Department benefited from a thoughtful donation of stuffed animals from the Blue River Area Board of Realtors, aiding children who require comfort and support.
YORK – On Monday morning, Oct. 7, early in-person voting started in Nebraska and York County residents were turning out in significant numbers.
YORK – The York County Juvenile Diversion Program has received two substantial federal grants which will help grow the program.
YORK – A few weeks ago, the York County Commissioners enlisted the help of a company from Lincoln to take a look at possible mold and other damage created by leaking around the windows of the courthouse.
This week, that investigation continues . . . but it also looks like even more work will have to be done. York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier said the county’s contracted window washer informed him the calking around the upstairs windows has been falling off. He said that would also be looked at. It’s possible windows, especially on the west side of the second floor, will have to be replaced – thee extent of the work continues be determined. The current York County Courthouse was built in the 1980s, so it is about 40 years old. |
