YORK – The York County Courthouse, along with all the county offices (including aging services, transportation and roads) will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day.
YORK – Although the York County Board of Adjustment doesn’t meet very often, it still is required to exist. With that in mind, reappointments and appointments were made to this board, this past week, by the York County Commissioners.
YORK – Per the recommendation of York County Extension Agent Tanya Crawford, Amy Bruch and August Richters have been named as new members of the York County Extension Board.
YORK – The York County Commissioners have reappointed Jim Ulrich to the Four Corners Health Department’s board.
YORK – The York County Commissioners, sitting as the county’s board of equalization, approved eight tax roll corrections this past week during their last meeting of 2025.
Budget for court appointed attorneys already depleted for fiscal year, just six months in12/29/2025
YORK – The budget for court appointed attorneys, assigned to represent indigent defendants in York County, is already depleted for this fiscal year, even though the fiscal year is only half over.
YORK – Every four years, the task comes around for the county commissioners to determine salaries for all elected officials. This past week, that conversation came around, as they need to determine the salaries for the county board members, surveyor, sheriff, public defender, county attorney, clerk of the district court, assessor, clerk and treasurer for the years 2027-2030.
YORK – Upon Gary Peterson’s announcement he would be retiring from his position as the emergency manager for both Seward and York Counties, a conversation began as to whether the longstanding agreement should remain or if the counties wanted to stop sharing an emergency manager.
Qualified organizations reminded to turn in tax exemption reaffirmation forms by end of year12/24/2025
YORK – Qualified organizations are reminded they must turn in their Statements of Reaffirmation of Tax Exemption (Form 451A) to the York County Assessor’s office by 5 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 31, according to Assessor Kurt Bulgrin.
Veterans encouraged to contact veteran service office to see if they are entitled to more benefits12/24/2025
YORK – York County Veterans Service Officer Nick Wollenburg is asking all local veterans to contact his office to see if they qualify for more benefits than they realize.
