OMAHA – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in a “holiday wet lab,” an event provided by the Nebraska Chapter of the National Safety Council and AAA Nebraska.
YORK – With President Donald Trump’s declaration that Dec. 24, 25 and 26 are federal holidays, all of the York County offices will be closed on those dates.
This includes the courthouse and the roads department. County commissioners to hold last meeting of 2025, set elected official salaries for term of 2027-3012/22/2025
YORK – When the York County Commissioners meet in regular session on Tuesday, Dec. 23, it will be their last meeting of 2025. And it will be the time to set salaries for elected officials for the time period of 2027-2030.
YORK – The York Public Schools fifth graders got a fun treat this week when they were surprised by the York County Sheriff’s Office.
York County is currently accepting resumes for County Commissioner District 2. Must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Must reside in District 2 and be a registered voter with no felony convictions per §23-150. Salary set per resolution, with full benefit package. Closing date: January 9, 2026. YORK – Resumes are now being accepted from those living in District 2 in York County who are interested in becoming the county commissioner representing that jurisdiction.
The election results have been determined to be official, in which the majority voted in favor of recalling LeRoy Ott. So that creates a vacancy on the county board. The requirements include that an applicant must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. They must reside in District 2 and be a registered voter with no felony convictions. The salary is set per resolution with a full benefit package. Resumes will be accepted through Jan. 9. Then, interviews will be held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m., before a panel consisting of the county clerk, the county treasurer and the county attorney. Those three county officials will also make the decision as to who will serve in this capacity. YORK – The last days to obtain driver’s licenses at the York County Courthouse are Dec. 18 and 19, according to York County Treasurer Megan Williams.
She said her office will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and the next time the driver’s licenses can be obtained at the courthouse will be Jan. 2, 2026. YORK – Many York County officials and staff members will be attending the annual year-end convention of the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO) next week.
YORK – This week, the York County Commissioners held a public hearing to determine whether a conditional use permit should be granted on a property where a new house is being built while a house already exists there.
YORK – It’s hard to believe, but 2026 is nearly here and what that means is election filings will start soon pertaining to the Primary Election in the new year.
