YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners will hold their 2024-25 fiscal year budget hearing at 8:30 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The hearing will be held before they start their regular meeting. Only a 1% increase is expected in this new fiscal year. In this year’s proposed budget, the commissioners are proposing growing the reserves by infusing it with inheritance tax funds. The commissioners have agreed to raises for county employees and deputy elected officials, and they’ve agreed to purchasing a truck and trailer for the roads department as one of the major capital purchases for that department. The county board members have also agreed to continue making contributions to outside agencies, such as: CASA, $42,000; Blue Valley Community Action, $11,000; Hope Crisis center, $13,000; Blue Valley Behavioral Health, $5,000; York Adopt A Pet, $5,000; Kilgore Library, $17,500; York County Development Corporation, $76,000; Southeast Nebraska Development District, $7,449.
