YORK – During this week’s committee reports, the York County Commissioners provided information on a wide variety of topics as they each represent the county in different sectors. Commissioner Randy Obermier said he recently attended the Nebraska Association of County Officials Central District meeting and it had “a really big turn-out with the highlight, for me, being the legislative updates.
“And yesterday, Daniel (Commissioner Grotz) and I met with the city about the interlocal agreement the county has with them for ambulance service. We will be looking at that agreement and bringing information back to this board. We levy taxes for this and need to look at some adjustments.” He said he and other county officials went through financial statements with the auditor and the 911 communications board would be meeting at the end of the week. Commissioner Joe Burgess said he attended the Blue Valley Community Action Board meeting, which included information about grants, selling a BVCA building in Osceola and the thousands of hours of work undertaken by volunteers. Burgess also attended the board meeting for the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD). He said new projects are emerging, as they pertain to workforce housing. Commissioner Andy Bowman said he’s been working with the roads department and Commissioner Daniel Grotz also noted the new motorgrader has arrived. They called it “a very impressive machine and it is being used right now in the Thayer area.” Grotz noted how the York County Development Corporation Board of Directors met, as strategic planning is underway for the organization. “And the project to establish the Southeast Community College Development Center continues forward with the public fundraising effort underway,” Grotz said. “And Commissioner Bowman and I will have some meetings this week regarding the board of equalization and claims filed with the Tax Equalization Review Commission (TERC).” Comments are closed.
