YORK – This week, the York County Commissioners held a public hearing to determine whether a conditional use permit should be granted on a property where a new house is being built while a house already exists there. The county’s zoning regulations say only one house can exist per quarter quarter and if another house exists it must have a conditional use permit.
Nate Heinz, York County zoning administrator, explained how the application was from Brian Kronk. “He applied as a new house is being built while the old one is there,” Heinz said. “The old one will be torn down when the new house is done but it still needs a permit” because of the way the zoning regulations are written. Kronk’s property is on Road 7 near Henderson. “This was reviewed by the planning commission which recommends approval,” Heinz said. “There is nothing of concern here, it’s just because there are technically two houses on that property.” Kronk said someone has expressed interest in moving the existing house to another location, so Heinz recommended the wording in the permit should say the house has to be removed from the property within a year after the other house is being used. The board agreed and voted in favor. Comments are closed.
