YORK – During their most recent meeting, the York County Commissioners – convened as the board of equalization – approved tax exemptions for three properties and denied two. The tax exemptions – for both real and personal properties – were approved for the Irvin Blum Post #1609, the York Community Foundation and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3999.
York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin said he received information from Grace Children’s Home in Henderson how two of their properties no longer qualified for exemption and the owners actually asked for the exemptions to end on those properties. Bulgrin recommended as such and the commissioners voted to rescind the exemptions. They were also presented with three tax list corrections. Bulgrin also reported how two hearings before the Tax Equalization Review Commission had been postponed. One regarding Green Plains as this company is appealing its valuation. The other is in regard to the Yorkshire Playhouse as this entity is challenging a state determination they should no longer be tax exempt. When it comes to the Yorkshire Playhouse, the assessor and commissioners agreed it should be an exempt property, but state officials are challenging that exemption. The two TERC hearings have been rescheduled for Aug. 6. Comments are closed.
