YORK – The York County Commissioners have approved an update to the county’s interlocal agreement with the City of York pertaining to the emergency communication center. Mindy Gerken, communications director, explained how the interlocal agreement was created in 2018 and this update will make the agreement more streamlined.
Plus, the original agreement included wording pertaining to how the communications center would be set up – but because it is now already established, that wording is no longer needed. York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier, who sits on the communications center committee, said that board hasn’t changed and the two entities share the costs 50/50. Yes, the county provides the space but the rest of the cost is split equally. “Both the county attorney and the city attorney have looked at this, as well as it has been reviewed by the committee and then pushed forward,” Obermier said. “If we approve these changes, they will be sent on to the city council as well.” The board voted in favor of making the updates.
