YORK – The York County Commissioners reflected on lessons learned and information reaffirmed from the latest budget session provided by the Nebraska Association of County Officials (NACO) in York. County officials from all over the state attended the session, which was held at the Holthus Convention Center.
Commissioner Joe Burgess said he found the meeting to be interesting and there was “a lot to learn. For me, I was especially interested in the board’s responsibility in the budget process.” Commissioner Andy Bowman said it was a “good session” with a lot of information while Commissioner LeRoy Ott said he found it interesting to hear different policies being implemented by other counties. “Yes, the NACO meeting had a lot of good discussion and the talk about inheritance tax, about how that could change our budget if some state legislative bills pass.” In other committee reports, Bowman said he had the opportunity to talk with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and he attended his second meeting of the reorganized York County Historical Association. “We have a completely new board working to make sure the history of York County is preserved.” He also noted there are ongoing conversations about possibly moving the historical association’s location in York County. Ott noted he attended Region V and Apace meetings and how he’s impressed with how both agencies are providing so many services while state and federal funding is being cut. Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier said he would be talking with the county’s zoning administrator, Nate Heinz, to see when special exception applications would be coming before the commissioners. “And then we need to jump back into our zoning regulations for solar projects.” Comments are closed.
