YORK – The York County Commissioners have agreed to stay with the same firm and the same person who has been helping with their budget and audit for a number of years. The individual is Jill Clay – who earlier worked for Contryman and now for Regier, Carr and Monroe LLP.
Contryman did the work for York County for a significant amount of time and then when Clay moved on to the second company, the commissioners migrated with her as far as contracting the services. They reviewed the contract this week, as they do each year, and agreed to stay with Regier, Carr and Monroe. The budget work will cost between $6,500 and $9,000, depending on how involved Clay has to be. York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier estimated the county’s expense will be on the lower end, as she works with him, Commissioner Daniel Grotz and the county clerk in the formulation of the budget draft. “Finding someone to do this type of work is getting harder to find and they (Clay’s company) have now expanded to working with five or six counties in Nebraska, besides just us,” Obermier said. “Once we input the numbers, they will go through it all, help us create the budget and then help us create the paperwork for the state.” And then there is the audit each year, which will also be reviewed by Clay. “We really, really like working with Jill,” Commissioner Grotz said. “She has always been very helpful and she knows the ins and outs of our county.” All the commissioners agreed to continue the contract. Meanwhile, Obermier said the budget committee continues to meet and all the figures have been sent to Clay. “We will have a draft of the budget to all the county commissioners by Aug. 1,” Obermier told the county board. “And we will go from there.” Comments are closed.
