YORK – Tanya Crawford, 4-H Extension educator in York County, met with the York County Commissioners this past week, noting she and other Nebraska Extension staff members recently met with state lawmakers. “We spoke with them about hot topics and presented them information to show the benefit of Nebraska Extension,” Crawford said.
She also presented that same information to the commissioners. The information included the economic impact of the University system in Nebraska. “The NU system has a major economic impact on Nebraska, contributing $6.4 billion annually. For every $1 the state invests in the NU system, $10 is returned to the Nebraska economy. The NU system helps create jobs, fuel innovation and support local communities.” Regarding Nebraska Extension: “Nebraska Extension professionals work locally to develop practical solutions which positively impact youth, businesses, families and entire communities. NU helps co-create a promising future for all Nebraskans. Nebraska Extension continues its strong commitment to the Big 3 – strengthen Nebraska agriculture and food systems, inspire Nebraskans and their communities, and enhance the health and well-being of all Nebraskans. Imagine strengthening Nebraska’s communities by growing the Nebraska Extension platform beyond the land-grant mission to leverage the entire NU system to focus on local priorities. Nebraska Extension, along with the NU system, is uniquely positioned to deliver tailored solutions which meet the priority needs of our state.” Comments are closed.
