YORK – The York County Commissioners have agreed to sign a contract with Vanguard for commercial reappraisals in York over the course of the next two years. York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin brought forward the agreement this week, asking for the board’s approval.
The expenditure had already been included in the budget. While all the commercial properties in the county will be reappraised in the next few years, the company will do the ones in York first. As Bulgrin explained, this contract can only be for two years, so the company will concentrate in a specific area first. Bulgrin said Vanguard brings extra services to the process, as they already have access into the county’s system and their appraisers are more skilled in reappraising large and unique commercial properties. The county commissioners have already budgeted $295,000 for this commercial reappraisal process – for the entire county. The first project of reappraising the York commercial properties will cost the county about $99,000. “I’m fine with this, but I personally am a shopper who wants to get the best deal possible, so I have questions about only looking at one appraiser,” said Commissioner Daniel Grotz. The commissioners are not statutorily required to go out for bids as this expenditure is for specific professional services. In the end, all the county board members voted in favor of the Vanguard contract. Comments are closed.
