YORK – For the second time in just a few months, the York County Commissioners have approved a conditional use zoning permit for a property where a new house is being built and the existing house will be removed later. The county has had a longstanding zoning regulation which says there can be no more than one house per quarter quarter in the rural area of the county, without a conditional use permit. This regulation was created as an effort to control the amount and location of housing in the farming areas of the county.
This week, York County Zoning Administrator Nate Heinz brought the matter to the commissioners, as the planning and zoning board had already voted to recommend approval of the conditional use permit. Heinz said the owners of the property are building a new house and will be destroying the old one. The board agreed to approve the permit with the stipulation the old house has to be destroyed or moved within a year after the new house is able to be lived in. Comments are closed.
