YORK – The Kilgore Library is a city-owned facility, but because many library patrons are from all corners of York County, the county also provides dollars toward funding its operation.
This week, Kilgore Director Deb Robertson met with the county board members to give them an update of upcoming events and programming. “Next week, we will have a focus group day, a day of sessions to hear what people need and want from the library, as this is the community’s library, the people’s library,” Robertson said. On Tuesday, March 25, the information gathering sessions will be held at 9 a.m., noon and 6 p.m., at the library. “We are hosting these sessions to explore the future needs of individuals and organizations in our service area,” Robertson said. “These sessions will offer a unique opportunity to share insights, collaborate with others and help shape the resources and services which support our community’s growth and well-being. The facilitator will be Nicole Sedlacek, the economic development manager for the Nebraska Public Power District.” Robertson also announced the library will not have its own makerspace offering. She explained how the library received a grant for this, which will be located in an underused space in the facility. The library will have three open house events to showcase this new offering – on Monday, March 24, from 2:30-4 p.m.; on Wednesday, March 26, from 5-7 p.m.; and on Thursday, March 27, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Comments are closed.
