YORK – York County Clerk Mary Melby says special election ballots are arriving at her office and District 2 voters are reminded to return their ballots by the end of the business day on Dec. 9, regarding the question of recall pertaining to York County Commissioner LeRoy Ott. This is an all-mail election – meaning there will be no voting at the polls. All registered voters in that district should have received their ballots in the mail by now.
Voters can complete their ballots and then mail them back to the clerk’s office, or they can return them in person. They can be brought to the clerk/election offices inside the courthouse or deposited in the drop box located on the west side of the courthouse. It should be noted how Melby is the only person allowed to retrieve materials from the drop box during this election period, to ensure election security/integrity. Melby says all ballots must be returned by 5 p.m., on Dec. 9, in order to be counted. As soon as that time arrives, she and her staff will begin to count the votes. A simple majority will determine whether Ott remains in office, on the county board, or not. Voters are also reminded to carefully read the instructions included in their election ballots, to ensure their ballots are legally submitted. Only District 2 registered voters will participate in this special election, as the commissioners are elected by districts and not on an at-large basis. Comments are closed.
