County commissioners to hold public hearing as they open, change 2025-26 budget

YORK – The York County Commissioners will be holding a public hearing during their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 23, as they open and change the 2025-26 budget.

​This action will be taken in order to modify the current fiscal year’s budget, as the budgeted amount in at least one fund (county court) has been overspent.
Following the public hearing and resolution, another resolution will be considered to change the budget authority.
Also during Tuesday’s regular meeting:

• The board members will review an interlocal agreement with Fillmore County for emergency management.
• Jon Day from Blue Valley Behavioral Health will make his annual presentation and budget request.
• Shari Weber from Blue Valley Community Action will make her annual presentation and budget request.
• Representatives of APACE/Region V will make their annual presentation and budget
• Information will be presented regarding the award of a $100,000 grant from Moms On A Mission.
• The board will act on a principle and interest payment in the amount of $843,572 for the highway allocation bond.
• As the board of equalization, they will consider a motor vehicle tax exemption filed by Epworth Village; hear a personal property penalty protest; consider the over/under report presented by the county assessor; and hold property valuation protest hearings.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room located on the main floor of the courthouse.
