County commissioners to reorganize for the new year

YORK – When the York County Commissioners convene in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 21, they will reorganize for the new year. This means they will elect a chairman and vice-chairman of the board.

Currently, the commissioner chairman is Randy Obermier and the vice-chairman is Daniel Grotz.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting:

• 
  
  • The board will have a conversation with Aaron Clark with Nextlink Internet regarding broadband development for York County.
  • The annual weed reports will be presented.
  • They will discuss York County’s extension board application for Audrey Walford.
  • A visitors improvement grant in the amount of $30,000 for the Holthus Convention Center will be considered.
  • York County Attorney Gary Olson and Juvenile Diversion Director Tristan Perry will meet with the commissioners to talk about the progress with two grant programs.
• They will hear information about salary changes for specific transit and aging services staff.
• A conversation will be held regarding credit from Medica, the county’s insurance carrier.
• They will consider giving the chairman the renewed authority to close the courthouse in the event of an emergency.
• A conversation will be held regarding services from Davis Design for the new fire suppression system installation in the jail.
• The board members will also talk about their various committee assignments.
• As the board of equalization, they will discuss tax list corrections as presented by the county assessor and they will consider a motor vehicle exemption for Grace Mission, a non-profit organization.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ chambers which are located on the main floor of the courthouse next door to the clerk’s office.
