YORK – The York County Roads Department will soon be selling off surplus property which has been determined to no longer be used or needed. The York County Commissioners agreed to the sale this past week, when they met in regular session.
Greg Heine and Ashley Rasmussen, who are current supervisors at the roads department, said staff has been going through the inventory, looking at equipment and other items, determining what is no longer needed. “I think this has been a great opportunity they are taking to clear out non-essential stuff,” said Commissioner Andy Bowman. “Some of it we just don’t feel is feasible to repair,” Heine said. Heine added how they will be reaching out to companies about doing online sales. “Thank you for getting rid of what you don’t use,” commented Commissioner LeRoy Ott. Heine also noted how the roads department had been working to get everything ready for winter, with the snow plows and sanders – with the timing perfect as the first snowfall arrived just days later. He also noted how gravel hauling had stopped for now, because winter has arrived. And he noted work on Road 25 was nearly completed, “which will wrap up our 2025 construction season.” Comments are closed.
