YORK – York County will stay with engineering company, Oak Creek Engineering, for bridge inspection work. The decision was made this past week by the York County Commissioners.
“As the state is putting on more scrutiny regarding inspections, this comes before us,” said Commissioner Chairman Daniel Grotz. “Oak Creek Engineering has been doing this work for us, for some time now.” This work is to identify and monitor fracture critical bridge structures. Another bid was received from Bowman Consulting Group (which used to be Speece Lewis). “Since the Oak Creek bid is lower and they have been doing this work for the county for some time now, the roads committing is recommending staying with them for this next year,” Grotz said. “Looking at both, Oak Creek is viewed as an estimate and the other is a bid. Can you elaborate?” asked Commissioner Randy Obermier. Ashley Rasmussen from the roads department said Oak Creek has always presented their work in an estimate “and they have always been right on with their amounts.” “These are the same types of agreements,” Commissioner Andy Bowman said, also noting the county had worked with Oak Creek Engineering in the past regarding the installation of stop signs at a problematic intersection, besides bridge inspections. The county board members agreed to move forward with a contract for 2026 with Oak Creek Engineering. Comments are closed.
