YORK – Deb Robertson, who recently retired from her position as longtime director of the Kilgore Library in York, has been named as the new District 2 York County Commissioner. The position was vacated by the recall of former commissioner, LeRoy Ott.
There were four candidates seeking the position – Robertson, Jacob Stutzman, Trevor Smith and Chris Ziegler. All four candidates were interviewed in public forum by a panel consisting of the county clerk, county treasurer and county attorney. The forum was held for about an hour in the county commissioner meeting room Tuesday night, Jan. 13. Each of the candidates was asked questions about their intentions and backgrounds – then the panel went into executive session. Following the executive session, they came back to cast votes. York County Clerk Mary Melby said the popular vote was in favor of Robertson and she will take the position – and will be sitting as a voting member of the board of commissioners next Tuesday when they meet in regular session. Editor’s note: A more detailed account will soon be published regarding the candidates, their responses to questions, etc. Comments are closed.
