YORK – Deb Robertson took the oath of office as the new District 2 York County Commissioner at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, prior to the county board convening for its regular meeting. York County Clerk Mary Melby administered the oath.
Robertson is only the fourth woman in the history of York County to sit on the county board. Other female county commissioners in York County have been Norma Ehlers, Kay Kahla and Pat Bredenkamp. Robertson recently retired from her position of being the longtime director of the Kilgore Library in York. During the interview process, Robertson talked about how she worked closely with boards and leadership teams during her 25-year career in the library field. “If appointed, I will focus on learning, listening and leading. I’m seeking the role due to my believe in public service and trust.” When discussing resolving conflict, Roberton said, “We need to talk to people and try to find a consensus, we need to talk it out.” She also said she was motivated to apply for the open position because “I need to be involved. I love to work with others. I’m a goal-driven person and I enjoy working on projects. I see this as a consensus-style governance, so people work together to get to the center of resolving the issue.” Comments are closed.
