YORK – York County residents – do not fall for a scam in which the caller says you are wanted by the York County Sheriff’s Department and you need to send in information. It is fraudulent.
The York County Sheriff’s office says there is a current “deputy impersonation scam in which the caller says there is a warrant for your arrest. The YSO has received numerous reports stating an individual is claiming to be a York County deputy, saying they have an active warrant for their arrest. The person impersonating the deputy is requesting potential scam victims to call back at a phone number not associated with the York County Sheriff’s Office.” Do not call that number. If someone has received this type of call, they are asked to call the York County Sheriff’s Office at 402-362-4927. Comments are closed.
