YORK COUNTY -- The early voting process is now underway and ballot requests, so far, have been high according to York County Clerk Mary Melby.
Melby said as the date arrived for ballots to be sent by mail to those registered voters who requested them, they have sent out approximately 300 so far. General Elections, which include the selection for United States president, are typically higher in interest than other elections. This particular election also includes many important local decisions, including whether or not a $39.5 million bond issue should happen in order to greatly expand the York Elementary School. There are also a number of local races for city and village board seats to be considered. Registered voters can go to the York County website and make applications for ballots to be sent to them. Meanwhile, early voting at the courthouse will begin soon. Melby said registered voters will have the option to vote early, in person, at the courthouse, starting Monday, Oct. 7. Individuals can also go to the courthouse in person and request a ballot which they can take home with them. However, the ballots have to be received by 8 p.m., on General Election Day, in order to be counted. Comments are closed.
