YORK – Each spring, the county commissioners open bids for gravel, sand and rock which will be used by the roads department through the course of county road maintenance throughout the next 12 months. That was the case this past week, as the county commissioners received six bids – from Hooker Brothers Sand and Gravel, Overland Sand and Gravel, Dale R. Johnson Enterprise, Johnson Sand and Gravel, Buel Trucking in Eagle and Gravel Products Southwest out of Axtell.
Each company bid products by the ton, as well as costs of delivery to the York County shop location where the product is stored until used. As is historically done, the county board accepted all the bids. As York County Highway Superintendent Harvey Keim explained, by taking all bids, “we can get what we want when we need it.” Comments are closed.
