YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the motorcyclist who was killed in a July 4 crash on Highway 34 in York County. Lt. Alex Hildebrand says at approximately 5 p.m., Thursday, the YSO was notified of a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 34 and Road P.
“Upon arrival, deputies learned a 2019 Harley Davidson FLHTP, ridden by Douglas Bristol, 66, of Fairbury was westbound on Highway when an eastbound 2017 Buick Encore SUV turned north onto Road P and struck the motorcycle,” Lt. Hildebrand said. “The driver of the SUV was Rita Friesen, 81, of York.” Hildebrand said Bristol was pronounced dead at the scene. The YSO was assisted by the York Police Department, York and Waco Fire Departments and the Nebraska State Patrol. A two-mile stretch of Highway 34 from Roads O to Q was closed for roughly two hours with traffic routed to county roads. Hildebrand said the investigation is ongoing. Comments are closed.
