New member appointed to visitors bureau board

YORK – The York County Commissioners have approved the appointment of Kreig Schmidt to the York County Visitors Bureau Advisory board.

​YCVB Director Alex Saathoff met with the commissioners this past week, regarding the appointment.
She explained how the term for the person in the position representing lodging properties – Doreen Luethje – expired at the end of the year and someone needed to be appointed to fill that position.
“Our board is recommending that person be Kreig Schmidt, who is with the Holiday Inn and has worked in the hotel industry since 2017. His experience would be invaluable to our board,” Saathoff said.
Schmidt said he looked forward to the opportunity.
The commissioners were unanimous when voting to appoint Schmidt, as was the YCVB board.
In another matter, Saathoff said, through technology and programming, the YCVB will be able to better see how many people attend local events and stay in hotels. “This will allow us to be able to make smarter decisions. And work on our marketing plan for 2026 is beginning.”
