YORK – People who are applying for passports are being reminded to only use the one legitimate website in doing so – or access their local district court offices for assistance. York County District Court Clerk Sharilyn Steube said the only legitimate online place to apply is travel.state.gov.
Steube said they have had individuals come to their office – after using other sites – who complained about being charged extra fees. “They may get a passport from these other places, but they will be charged extra fees which are not necessary,” Steube said. If someone wants to get a new passport or renew a passport, they find all the information they need at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html/passport_1738.html. They can also contact Steube’s office as they can help walk people through the process. The District Court office is located on the second floor of the courthouse. They can also be reached at 402-362-4038, Monday through Friday, 8-noon and 1-5 p.m. Comments are closed.
