YORK -- On Tuesday, June 10, when the York County Commissioners meet in regular session, they will be considering a contract for printing the annual “Pink Postcards” later this summer – if they are needed. The Pink Postcard practice was mandated by state law a few years ago as a way to alert taxpayers if a taxing entity is going to increase its tax asking by more than 2% compared to the prior year.
The Pink Postcards include a date, time and location for a public meeting where the officials from the taxing entity talk about the increase. These presentations take place right before the different taxing entities submit their final budgets for the next fiscal year – which is in late summer/early fall. The commissioners will consider assigning a company to print these, if they are needed. The county has been using the services of the state print shop, which many counties use.
