YORK COUNTY – A public meeting is scheduled regarding the long-anticipated expansion of Highway 81 from York to Columbus. The public hearing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Cross County Community School. A presentation will be held at 6 p.m.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be hosting a public hearing, regarding the conceptual design and draft for the York-Columbus Project, which would expand approximately 41 miles of Highway 81 in York, Polk and Butler Counties. This public hearing, according to the NDOT, “is being held in compliance with the environmental review process under the National Environmental Policy Act. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more and ask questions of the project team and provide comments. NDOT will give a formal presentation at 6 p.m., with an open house to follow until 7:30 p.m.” The NDOT adds how “the project draft is now available at www.ndot.info/42967 and “more information will be added the day of the public hearing.
