YORK COUNTY – Initially, it was thought a recall election regarding the position of LeRoy Ott as a York County Commissioner would be held Nov. 11. However, because that is a holiday (Veterans Day), it cannot be held on that date, according to state statute. Kayla Crowder from the York County Election office explained how they also have to take into account a state statute which requires the election to take place no fewer than eight Fridays from the date the governing board (commissioners) passes the resolution (to allow for the special election). With those stipulations in mind, it now appears the special election date will likely be set for Dec. 9.
York County Clerk Mary Melby will ask the commissioners to set the election and then she will ask the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office for permission to allow an all-mail election. Comments are closed.
