Recall petition effort ends against Gresham board chairman, petitioner turns in no signatures9/18/2025
YORK COUNTY – The recall effort against Gresham Village Board Chairman Tony Cain has ended, as no petition signatures have been turned in. The deadline has arrived for signatures to be received by the county clerk’s office, if the recall effort is to continue. With no signatures turned in, the effort against Cain is over.
Cain said, upon knowing the effort is over, ““I am relieved with the decision that Mr. Otto has chosen to not go through with the petition. I remain grateful that our system allows anyone with concerns to be heard; however, I am disappointed that this process was initiated over personal grievances. This experience reaffirms both the strength of our democratic tools and the importance of using them responsibly.” In August, Daniel Otto of Gresham filed his petition against Cain. He had 30 days to circulate the petition, to garner signatures from registered voters in the village. Now that the 30 days have passed, the matter is over and Cain will remain in his position – no special election will need to be held. Comments are closed.
