YORK – The York County Roads Department continues work as the hunt continues for another maintainer operator as well as the highway superintendent. Meanwhile, Ashley Rasmussen and Greg Heine continue to oversee the day-to-day operations with assistance from Commissioners Andy Bowman and Daniel Grotz.
This past week, Rasmussen and Heine met with the county commissioners to discuss operations, noting photos were taken of surplus items at the county shop and those will be posted for online auction soon. Heine said motorgrader operators have been “keeping busy smoothing areas with washboards and reaching out to grab gravel where it moved out to the edges.” He also noted a couple of motorgraders are down right now, due to the need for repairs. He and Rasmussen have been working on the one- and six-year road program for the year and their proposals will soon be posted online ahead of the public hearing. Bowman said he conducted another interview with a potential candidate for an open maintainer operator position – which he said “went well.” It was also mentioned how the new generator for the county shop has been installed, which will back up the entire roads facility if the power goes out. Commissioner Grotz also noted, during his committee report, how operations at the roads department are going well and staff has been making sure everything runs smoothly. Comments are closed.
