YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners and York County Roads Department is encouraging rural property owners to mow their ditches when and where needed, as there are many overgrown areas in the county. York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier told the county board and York County Highway Superintendent Harvey Keim he’d been receiving calls about ditches needing to be mowed in the rural areas of the county, along county roads.
“Are they not getting mowed?” he asked Keim. Keim said roads crews don’t mow until it is “frost time.” “In a number of areas, we ask adjacent property owners to mow,” Keim said. “Some do, some don’t. State statute says they are supposed to take care of their ditches.” “So it would be good for us to encourage adjacent rural property owners to mow their ditches,” Obermier said. “That will help get that done. If property owners will please do so, it would be good.” Comments are closed.
