YORK COUNTY – Sgt. Taylor Samek has been named the employee of the year for the York County Sheriff’s Office. The YSO recently held its year-end recognition event, during which this award was given.
The YSO said, “Sgt. Samek plays many roles within our agency and ensures we operate at a high level. Throughout 2024, our office put six individuals through our field training where Sgt. Samek spent the better half of the year riding with a trainee. He ensures the individuals we put on the road are prepared for any situation and able to properly detect/deter criminal activity. While he spent over half the year observing and training, he was still able to lead our office in both alcohol and drug DUI arrests.” Additionally, they said, his “ability to recognize criminal activity is second to none. During this past year, Sgt. Samek conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 80 for speeding. During the stop, he was able to develop probable cause to search the vehicle. He discovered thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen merchandise, methamphetamine and fentanyl. Search warrants were conducted by other agencies and more charges were filed as a result. This was just one of Sgt. Samek’s many traffic stops which resulted in multiple felony charges. We are super fortunate to have someone like Sgt. Samek.” Comments are closed.
