YORK COUNTY – From Nov. 23 to Dec. 1, the York County Sheriff’s Office participated in the “Make It Click” traffic enforcement campaign. Sergeant Taylor Samek says, “The goal of the campaign was to focus on seatbelt violations throughout York County during the Thanksgiving holiday season. During the campaign, deputies assigned to the initiative contacted 95 motorists and issued 25 citations. There were also several arrests: one felony arrest, two DUI-alcohol arrests, one DUI-drug arrest and one fugitive from justice apprehension.
“We were happy to see that seatbelt and child restraint usage was high as there were only four citations issued for seatbelt and/or child restraint violations. “The funding for this traffic enforcement campaign was provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. As always, we would like to encourage the public to contact us about any reckless or potentially impaired driver by calling 402-362-4927.” Comments are closed.
