Today is the 2024 General Election

YORK – Today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, is General Election Day.

The polls will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The following are the locations where York County residents will be voting, for those living in various precincts:

• Stewart, Thayer: Gresham Fire Station
• New York, Waco, Beaver, West Blue: Waco Community Building
• Hays, McFadden: McCool Junction Community Hall
• Leroy, Baker: York County Courthouse basement
• Morton, Arborville, Bradshaw, Lockridge: 4-H Building at the York County Fairgrounds
• Brown, Henderson: Henderson City Hall
• Wards 1, 2A, 2B, 3, 4A and 4B in York: York City Auditorium

Those who have possession of ballots, which they obtained earlier, are reminded they must return their ballots by 8 p.m., in order for them to be counted.
Those who go to the polls today are reminded they must bring along photo identification in order to vote.
Anyone wanting to vote also has to have earlier registered. Only registered voters can participate.
Of course, this is an important federal election day as this is a presidential election. Local voters will also be voting on two Senate seats and one seat in the House of Representatives.
Local voters will be casting votes on several state initiatives/measures and there will be three questions regarding judge retention in Judicial District 5.
In the York School District, voters will be deciding whether or not a $39.5 million bond issue should go through which would result in a major renovation/expansion project at the York Elementary School.
In York County, there will be a number of local governmental seats seen on ballots, including:

• York County Commissioner District 5: One seat, one candidate, Joe Burgess
• Henderson City Mayor: One seat, one candidate, Corbin Tessman
• Henderson City Council: One seat, one candidate, Kevin Friesen
• York City Mayor: One seat, one candidate, Barry Redfern
• York City Council: Four seats, four candidates, Jerry Wilkinson, Jennifer Sheppard, Tony North, Jeff McGregor
• Centennial School Board: Three seats, three candidates, Doug Cast, Bryce Borchers, Cole Henderson
• Cross County School Board: Three seats, three candidates, Quinn Peterson, Cindy Nyberg, Aaron Phillips
• Exeter-Milligan School Board: Three seats, four candidates, Eric Milton, Paul Jurgensen, Rachel Johnson, Eric Johnson
• Hampton School Board: Three seats, four candidates, Megan Faller, Tamara Wiens, Derek Klute, Mitchell Fagan
