YORK COUNTY – Valuation protests will continue on Tuesday as property owners meet with the York County Commissioners sitting as the York County Board of equalization. A number of property owners have filed protests and will be discussing their concerns/questions with the board in person. There were also a number of property owners who have filed protests but have indicated they will not be in attendance.
In all, 71 protests will be considered Tuesday. The commissioners have already held one round of protests and have talked at length with the county assessor about a glitch that incorrectly inflated a number of valuations in the county. The valuation of properties in York County is now under review at the state level, per a request made by the county assessor’s office, and new valuation cards will be mailed out to property owners this summer. The process will be completed in time for valuations to be set, before political subdivisions determine their levies for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
