Veterans encouraged to contact veteran service office to see if they are entitled to more benefits12/24/2025
YORK – York County Veterans Service Officer Nick Wollenburg is asking all local veterans to contact his office to see if they qualify for more benefits than they realize. On Jan. 2, a new law goes into effect which allows service-oriented people (veterans) to be exempt from paying motor vehicle taxes. With this big benefit coming into law soon, for veterans, Wollenburg and his staff have been going through the active lists of veterans in York County so they will be recognized as exempt in the new year. In doing so, they found many veterans haven’t visited with them regarding their entitlements in a number of years – and with law changes over time, they are likely entitled to more benefits than they realize.
“Please call us for an appointment or stop in,” Wollenburg said. “This way, we can meet with you and do a review to see if you are entitled to more benefits, as laws have changed drastically over the years.” And they can also get information about the latest benefit regarding the vehicle tax exemptions, which could mean big cost savings for those who served their country. The York County Veterans Service Office can be reached at 402-362-4047. “Veterans have earned their entitlements, their benefits, and we want to make sure they know it exists and we can help them get what they deserve for their service,” Wollenburg said. “Just call or visit and we will do a thorough review.” Comments are closed.
