Village board seats determined in York County

YORK – Each of the villages in York County had races in this election cycle for village board representation.

​The following were the candidate rosters for each and the number of votes received by each candidate.

• Village of Benedict: Three seats were up for election with two candidates, which were Erich Heiden and Lonney Schlegelmilch. Heiden received 78 votes and Schlegelmilch received 93. Both will serve for the next four years. A person will need to be appointed to serve in the third seat which will become vacant at the end of the year.
• Village of Bradshaw: There were three seats up for election and six candidates. The following are the names of the candidates and the number of votes each received: John Hastings, 57; Eric Jensen, 50; James Gordan, 46; Mary Kempf, 106; Devon Stamp, 57; Kent Meyers, 54. The top vote-getters were Kempf, Hastings and Stamp, who will serve for the next four years.
• Village of Gresham: There were three seats up for election and five candidates. The following were the candidates and the number of votes each received – James O’Donnell, 34; Justin Brahmsteadt, 77; Colton Luettel, 57; Tony Cain, 43; and Theo Prusia, 36. Brahmsteadt, Luettel and Cain will serve as village board members as they were the top three vote-getters.
• Village of Lushton: There were three seats up for election and five candidates. The following are the names of the candidates and the number of votes each received – Jason Balaban, 9; Diana Weisheit, 17; Eric Gammill, 15; Darwin Weisheit, 10; Greg Saltzman, 16. The three elected to the Lushton Village Board were Weisheit, Saltzman and Gammill.
• Village of McCool Junction: There were three seats up for election and three candidates so all three will serve as they were uncontested. The candidates and the number of votes they received were – Reid VanWesten, 181; Brennan White, 191; Kendra Stevens, 165.
• In the Village of Thayer, there were two seats up for election and one candidate, Faron Hines. Hines received 21 votes. Someone will need to be appointed to the second seat as there will be a vacancy at the end of the year.
• Village of Waco: There were three seats up for election and four candidates. The candidates and the number of votes they received were as follows: Robert Saeger, 93; Todd Bauder, 86; Carl Gordon, 63; and Justin Beck, 82. Saeger, Bauder and Beck will serve as they are the top vote-getters.
