YORK – This week, Ernie Price, York County’s weed superintendent, presented his annual report – which is done each year at this time.
Price said how, at this point of the fiscal year, the department has used 43% of the budget and 29% of the chemical budget, “with a lot of leftover product so we are in really good shape, we are standing good.” He said, in the past year, how of the noxious weeds found in the county, about the same amount of musk thistle was discovered but incidents of leafy spurge were up. “Phragmites is way up, we are working to do public awareness,” Price said. He also noted how phragmites is being found in strange locations, in places where it wouldn’t be expected. He said these particular noxious weeds can be seen now but they will need to be green to treat it. He said it is beneficial to treat them in the fall. The commissioners approved the weed report and thanked him for his efforts. Comments are closed.
