YORK -- Voters in the Centennial School District are reminded to have their ballots returned today, June 10, by 5 p.m., in order to be counted, for the special election regarding a proposed bond issue for the Centennial School. York County Clerk Mary Melby explained how Centennial voters in York County need to get their ballots to her office by 5 p.m., and they will then be taken to the Seward County Clerk's office. Once in Seward, all the ballots will be counted and the election results will be posted on the Seward County website. This is being done because the Centennial district's footprint crosses over county lines, with the majority living in Seward County.
Registered voters in the Centennial School District received their ballots in the mail back in May. This special election asks whether a $7.9 million bond issue should be allowed, to provide, according to school officials, "a modernized kitchen and cafeteria; a new multi-use gymnasium; additional classrooms to support growth and new programs; an on-site bus barn; safer facilities; expanded extracurricular and athletic opportunities; and preparations for the future."
