YORK – On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the York County Commissioners will hold their first meeting of 2025.
This will be the last meeting for Commissioner Jack Sikes, as he did not seek reelection and will be completing his term. Joe Burgess and LeRoy Ott will be taking their oaths of office, to be county commissioners, the morning of Jan. 9, which is per state statute. Ott is a current board member and Burgess will be a new member of the board. Both were elected during the 2024 election cycle. During the Jan. 7 meeting, the commissioners will reappoint Harvey Keim as the county highway superintendent which is done annually. They will also talk about a grant for the juvenile diversion program. The board will also be asked to consider an improvement grant, as recommended by the York County Visitors Bureau, for Henderson Heritage Park. The commissioners will also make their quarterly jail visit. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room which is located next to the clerk’s office on the main floor of the courthouse.
