York County Commissioners will hold next meeting/budget hearing in evening instead of morning

YORK – The York County Commissioners will be holding their next regular meeting and budget hearing at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

​Normally, the commissioners meet at 8:30 a.m., but they are holding this particular meeting in the evening in hopes more people will be able to attend the budget hearing.
The budget hearing itself will be held at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting to follow.
After the budget hearing is completed, they will convene in regular session with the following agenda items:

• They will act on a resolution setting the property tax request.
• Adoption of the budget will take place next.
• They will act on an amendment to the employees handbook which will allow sheriff employees to earn overtime pay after 80 hours in a two-week period.
• A resolution will be considered which will strike uncollectible property tax from the tax list.
• They will act on the 2023 distress warrants, delinquent personal property tax including mobile homes.
• The board will be asked to pass a resolution to conduct a special election regarding the potential recall of District 2 Commissioner LeRoy Ott.
• As the board of equalization, they will consider a motor vehicle exemption application from York University.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be held in the commissioners’ meeting room on the main floor of the courthouse.
